First Degree Murder / Aggravated Burglary
A Salt Lake County defendant was facing the possibility of two life sentences on allegations that he was an accomplice to murder and an armed home invasion where one two victims were shot and one person died. Police claimed that Defendant produced witness statements from people inside the home who allegedly identified the Defendant as an accomplice to the murder and burglary. Andrew McAdams represented the Defendant before the court and with prosecutors to show that Defendant was much less involved than witnesses suggested. Ultimately, prosecutor's dismissed both the First Degree Murder and Aggravated Burglary charges when Defendant admitted to obstructing justice. Rather than serving two life sentences, Defendant was given probation and released from jail. Rather than serving two life sentences, Defendant was released at sentencing after serving 9 months.
